Original Illustrated Stories

The RabbitHutch Story Library

Every story here stays free to read, always. They’re written to work on three levels at once—fun for children reading on their own, lovely to read aloud at bedtime, and clever enough that grown-ups enjoy them too. Each one is made to reward a second read.

The two series

Bramblewood Hollow Mysteries. Rupert Hopscotch is a careful, notebook-keeping rabbit detective. Thistle Theodore Nutwhistle is the chipmunk who makes every case considerably louder. Gentle mysteries with real clues, played fair—you can work out the answer right alongside them.

Grandpa Gideon Bedtime Stories. Quieter and slower, made for the end of the day. A grandfather, a grandson, a workbench, and small wonders in a short bedtime story.

Every story here stays free to read, and always will.

The Case of the Twilight Tapping

A Bramblewood Hollow Mystery

Every evening, just as twilight settles over Bramblewood Hollow:

Tap.Tap tap.Tap… tap-tap…

Nobody can say quite what it is, or where it’s coming from—and Rupert isn’t sure it’s anything to worry about.

Thistle disagrees. His acorn caches, tucked carefully all across the forest floor, are quietly going missing, and he is certain the two things are connected. Rupert isn’t so sure.

This time, Thistle isn’t the assistant. He’s the client. Get notified when the story arrives →
