These answers provide general information, not advice for an individual rabbit. If you’re concerned about your rabbit’s health, contact your veterinarian.
What you can expect
I want these conversations to be useful, trustworthy, and easy to read. Sometimes that may mean a practical question about food or teeth. Sometimes it may be something rabbit owners hear conflicting advice about. And sometimes it may simply be one of those things you’ve always wondered but never remembered to ask during an appointment.
Rabbit medicine isn’t just dog-and-cat medicine in a smaller coat, so the experience of the person answering matters.
For these notes, I’ll seek veterinarians who treat rabbits regularly, including those involved in exotic-mammal medicine and veterinary-school exotics programs. Each contributor will be introduced by name, credentials, and role, so you’ll know whose answer you’re reading.
How a note will look
Each published note will pair one focused question with one thoughtful answer. The contributor’s name, credentials, role, and relevant practice or organization will appear with the answer, so you’ll know whose perspective you’re reading. This is a description of the planned format, not a published contribution.
These conversations won’t replace the veterinary and university sources used throughout RabbitHutch.org’s care articles. Think of them as another window: a chance to hear directly from people who spend their working lives caring for animals we all love.
If you’re a veterinarian who treats rabbits
I’d love to hear from you.
I’m deliberately keeping these interviews small. In most cases I’ll send one focused question by email, rather than asking for a long interview or a large chunk of your day. I’ll identify you and your practice accurately, link to your practice if you’d like, and nothing will be published without your permission.
I’m also occasionally looking for veterinarians willing to review a rabbit-care article for factual accuracy.
If either sounds like something you’d enjoy participating in, please use the contact form and choose the Vet Notes partnership topic.
While the interviews are being gathered
The Hutch is still setting out the chairs for this part of the site. 🐇
In the meantime, the rabbit care articles are already here, covering food, hay, greens, herbs, and more. When the first Vet Notes arrive, they’ll have a home right here.
